Without much attention, a law was passed in France on Wednesday (14 Feb 2024) that could criminalize resistance to mRNA injections.

The contentious legislation, dubbed by critics as “Article Pfizer,” creates a legal framework that penalizes individuals who advocate against mRNA or other medical treatments deemed appropriate according to prevailing medical knowledge. This means that any opposition to mRNA therapy or corporate medical methods could result in criminal charges.

Under the new law, individuals advising against mRNA treatment or urging the discontinuation of therapeutic or prophylactic medical treatments could face imprisonment for up to three years or fines of up to 45,000 euros. This move has drawn significant backlash from various quarters, with many expressing concerns about freedom of speech and the right to dissent.

Biologist Annelise Bocquet expressed shock over the law, highlighting its implications for those critical of mRNA-LNP injections.

The law’s most contentious aspect lies in its wording, particularly paragraph 2, which outlines penalties for soliciting the abandonment or omission of medical treatment deemed beneficial according to prevailing medical knowledge.

Critics argue that the law is an anti-democratic maneuver that stifles dissent and threatens whistleblowers. While the government defends the legislation as a necessary measure to combat dangerous misinformation, opposition groups view it as a prejudgment of alternative medicine and an encroachment on individual freedoms.

Initially, the government faced resistance, leading to the removal of Article 4 from the law. However, a subsequent maneuver by the Macron regime saw the reinstatement of the article, leading to its adoption by the National Assembly. This move has been criticized as a blatant disregard for democratic processes and an affront to civil liberties.

Florian Philippot, leader of the party “Les Patriots,” had warned of such a maneuver, referring to Article 4 as the “Pfizer amendment.” He criticized the legislation for condemning anyone expressing doubt about mRNA injections.

Most opposition factions – with the exception of the Social Democratic Group – saw the law as a prejudgment of so-called “alternative medicine” and a threat to whistleblowers.

According to Jean-François Coulomme:

The sincerity of this fight against dangerous sectarian developments must not consist in punishing complementary care practices or the consumption of phytotherapeutic products by law.”

Thomas Ménagé from Le Pen’s “Rassemblement national” simply called the law “a development hostile to freedom.”

Despite opposition, the Macron regime successfully implemented the law, signaling a concerning trend towards authoritarianism.

As the law moves back to the Senate, there is anticipation of further resistance. However, observers warn of potential circumventions by the Macronists. This issue underscores broader concerns about freedom of speech, medical autonomy, and governmental overreach in France.
